Eturelab SAPI de C.V. (“Ecohero,” “we,” “us”), located at Avenida La Llave 2030, Colonia Parques Santa Cruz del Valle, Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, Mexico, is responsible for processing your personal data under Mexico's Federal Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (Ley Federal de Protección de Datos Personales en Posesión de los Particulares, LFPDPPP). This notice applies to all of ecohero.io, including the waste scanner and the conversational agent.
What personal data do we collect?
When you use the waste scanner
- Name, last name, company, email, and WhatsApp number — through the site's form.
- Name and email (company and phone are optional) — if you'd rather provide your details later, when downloading or sharing your material report.
- Photographs of the material you scan.
When you use the conversational agent
- Your IP address, tied to the conversation.
- If you talk to the agent by voice on a device where your browser can't transcribe speech locally (for example, Safari on iPhone), we send the audio of your voice to an outside provider to convert it to text.
- Your name and contact details, only if you decide to submit an offer, agree to temporary commercial terms, or close a purchase on a published material through the agent.
Our internal analytics, which measure how well the scanner works, do not store your IP address or any identifier that would distinguish you across visits — it's aggregated information, not tied to a person.
What do we use your data for?
We use your data to:
- Identify and classify the material in your photograph.
- Generate your material report.
- Contact you for follow-up and, if there's demand for your material, connect you with an interested buyer.
Additionally, we keep photographs of the material with the purpose of improving and training our classification models going forward. This is a separate purpose from the service you receive today, and you can opt out of it without affecting your use of the scanner or any other part of the service — see “How to opt out” below.
Do we share your data with anyone?
Never with buyers. When we connect your material with an interested buyer, they only see it as coming from “Ecohero Works” — never your name, your company, or any data that identifies you or your organization.
We do work with outside providers who process data on our behalf (“processors”), under contract and solely to deliver the service they provide:
- Supabase — database, photo storage, and authentication.
- Anthropic (Claude) — classification of waste photographs and the conversational agent.
- ElevenLabs — text-to-speech for the agent, and transcription of your voice when you speak to the agent on devices without native support.
- OpenAI — backup voice transcription, only if the provider above can't process it.
- Resend — email delivery.
- Railway — backend hosting (the servers Ecohero runs on).
- Netlify — hosting for this website.
None of these providers use your data for their own purposes — they process it solely so Ecohero can operate.
How long do we keep your data?
We don't have a fixed retention period. We keep your data for as long as a potential business relationship with you may exist, and we delete it when you request it.
How to opt out of using your photographs to improve our models
If you don't want us to keep your photographs for that purpose, write to us at privacidad@ecohero.io with the email or WhatsApp number you used to scan your material. This won't affect your scan result or any other service you've already received.
Your data rights
Under Mexican law you have the right to access your personal data, rectify it if it's outdated or inaccurate, cancel it when you believe we no longer need it for the purposes in this notice, and object to a specific use of it (these are known in Mexico as ARCO rights).
To exercise any of these rights, write to us at privacidad@ecohero.io with:
- Your full name.
- The email or WhatsApp number you used with the scanner or the agent (so we can locate your data).
- A clear description of which right you want to exercise and regarding what data.
- Any supporting documentation, if applicable.
We'll respond within 20 business days of your request, as required by the LFPDPPP. If your request is granted, we'll act on it within the 15 business days following that response.
Changes to this notice
If we make a material change to this notice, we'll update the date at the top of this page. We recommend checking back from time to time.
